Happy Spring!

We  hope you all are enjoying this wonderful Spring and are well and healthy!

Pupdate on Lucy

Since finding out that our blind Lucy has Diabetes, we have her on insulin. I did a glucose curve and she is now on 3 units of insulin twice a day. Her water intake and output are greatly reduced. She is also gaining weight and is now over 10 lbs. She has become so spunky! She plays, bows, and runs. When I call her in she has the path memorized. When she gets to the steps I say ‘Up!’ and she leaps up each step. It is pretty amazing to watch. I will get video soon! The first sign that I knew something was wrong with her was when she first came home from the shelter and drank tons of water!
I have been asked by the Editor at Happy DIY Home to share this article about ‘Why My dog is Drinking so much water’. I read it and think it is very ’share worthy’. I love learning new things. I hope you will have a chance to read it! https://yourdogadvisor.com/why-is-my-dog-drinking-so-much-water/

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

November News and we hope you had a HAPPY and SAFE THANKSGIVING

We took this adorable little girl in to rescue in Nov.  We call her Lucy. She was left at the local Humane Society. A month later she was adopted but then brought back the next day. I do not think they thought she was blind when they adopted her and she was bumping into things. I picked her up (I believe it was the same day she was returned). She is blind from cataracts. I took her to my vet yesterday to try to piece together the puzzle of why she is losing weight, and has excessive drinking and urinating. My vet sent off urine and blood samples to a lab and we found out that Lucy is Diabetic and will be on insulin twice a day.  She is beyond precious and sweet and very courageous! If you would like to help pay for her vetting and care, your help would be greatly appreciated!
Please enjoy being with your Holidays while staying safe.  We want all our family and yours to live for many years to come!

Christmas Poms & Dogs video preview 2020

I shot the video and pics for the PomRescue.com Christmas video and cards fundraisers on 10/11. Each year I swear I am never doing this again! But then the year rolls around and I repeat the madness. The vid/cards are our big fundraisers of the year, so there ya go! This is a preview to our craziness. I release the video the day after Thanksgiving. But if anyone is ready to donate early- that is fine too! LOL Our mailing address is
PomRescue.com,
PO Box 14, Roebuck SC 29376, or you can go to PayPal and donate to PomRescueCom@aol.com or donate here and use the Donate now button. THank you! Anybody think I should change the name of the rescue to PomsTestYou.com? LOL

October News

I think here are PomRescue.com we should call October, ‘Barktober’! I think we have earned the right to! We have been busy. Our board member Bonnie, facilitated the taking in to rescue, fostered and then placed a little cream, Pom girl. She was adopted last weekend. We LOVE it when a plan comes together! She has been getting happy pupdates all week.

Last Friday I picked up a little black Pom that was transferred over to us by another rescuer, that had taken him in when he was in need. She had him vetted and had intended to keep him, but he just was not a good fit for her pack. We are calling him ‘Cubby’ for the time being. He is being adopted in the next couple of weeks by a good friend that needed him as much as he needed her.  I have enjoyed getting to know this funny, sweet, tiny, precious guy!

Happy Fall Y’all!

It is amazing to me how fast the summer has passed. August and September are gone and now we are ‘pumpkin spice’ everything! It has been so very hot, I won’t really mind because I know cooler temps are on the way. Covid 19 has changed us all this year. I don’t think we will ever be the same. Now we hear that a dog has died from Covid. It has changed the way we rescue. It has changed how our supporters are able to donate. It has changed the way are animals are seen at the vet. We have put off well dog visits and vaccines.  Two days ago, we found out that Facebook was short of help and rather than contact me for the info they needed they decided to refund one of our birthday fundraisers in the spring. It may even be worse than that. We haven’t received payment for two of the birthday fundraisers so it may be a huge loss that will take a long time to recover from. It also casts a shadow of doubt on the legitimacy of our rescue. I want to assure you that we are a legitimate, 501c3. non-profit, charity. We go to great lengths to provide the proper info and fill out all the state and federal requirements each year to keep it that way. Here is the link to our credentials. http://pomrescue.com/blog1/?page_id=704 I want to thank you all for your support, friendship, caring and standing with us these last 16 years. Please stay safe. Take care of yourselves and your family. Things should be better soon! Big furry hugs- Elaine and the pups

We hope you had a safe and Happy Fourth of July!

What in the world?

I honestly do not know what to say about what is going on in the world today. A month ago, if some one had told me we would be staying at home in the middle of a pandemic, I would not have believed it. But here we are. It really hit me today when I went to our Vet’s office, and had to call them to bring out Trouble’s insulin to the car because we were not allowed inside. That is what all the vet’s are doing now to try to curtail the spread of the virus. It was surreal.
Many people will be impacted in many ways. Even if they do not get sick, the shutdowns may affect their livelihoods.
As a non-profit, depending on donations from kind people, we do not know how this will affect PomRescue.com. Dogs will continue to need to be rescued. The ones sanctuaried here will still need their medicines/food/care.
We will just do the best we can to get through this. One day at a time. Please take care of you and yours first, and if you have any left that you would like to donate, we will make it go as far as we can!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all and your families. We will get through this with God and by standing together.
Big hugs- Elaine
